Why Heads Up Now?

WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?

The pressure, sense of urgency and levels of disconnection are becoming more intense.

Intrinsic human needs - that is, to be seen, heard, understood and empowered to act - are easily undermined by organisational 'noise'.

CIPD (2025) report that individuals and teams being under too much pressure at least once a month creates enduring feelings of low mood and high anxiety, which reduces performance and stifles innovation.

According to Business In The Community (2020) most adults (77%) report experiencing symptoms of poor mental wellbeing during their work life.

This increases staff turnover rates, recruitment and retention costs and negatively impacts creativity, innovation and collaboration.

Lost human potential impacts us all.

Is this the legacy we want to create for the next generation?

But it does not have to be this way...

The evidence is that whole-system approaches – working with leaders, teams & stakeholders – becomes a “protective factor” for fostering positive wellbeing (NCB, 2014). Evidence-based coaching approaches are a cost-effective means of support and investment in workforce development, building people’s capacity to not only cope with present challenges, but maximises their contribution in the future too.

5 Principles

These principles enable people to think, feel & act at their best and underpin our approach:

HEALTH

Creating HEALTHY conditions – such as ease amid urgency, openness amid challenge, care for people as humans. This leads to better outcomes.

EQUILIBRIUM

Genuine mutuality & collaboration leads to resolving conflict faster, greater team coherence and better performance. Listening to understand is at the heart of this.

ATTENTION

Quality attention to think and talk through what matters in adult to adult conversations. Attention on words, feelings, body-clues, patterns in the system...

DEVELOPMENT

People don't need "fixing". A developmental approach (rather than remedial) expands people's capacity to think, feel & act more skilfully.

SYSTEMIC

When people know how to connect and collaborate, this brings balance and flow to the systems they are in.
